F.A.C.T.S.
F.A.C.T.S. aims to foster entrepreneurship in the apparel industry and the creative services around it, by educating the youth on the skills needed to start-up and run a sustainable screen printing production business. With an emphasis on collaborating and building strategic partnerships in the local community as well as abroad with other visual artists, photographers/videographers, promoters, seamstresses, graphic/accessory/apparel designers and funders to produce a lifestyle businesses that are Global, Street and Conscious.
FACTS is an acronym for fashion, arts, culture, technology and screen printing; the five pillars of our programs vision.
FACTS seeks to affect youth ages 15-25 by providing both entrepreneurial and vocational skills training through apprenticeships with our screen printing division.
We offer each apprentice the opportunity to learn the fashion industry from developing concepts in the design process through to marketing and selling a finished product. A special emphasis will be tailored toward collaborating and building strategic relationships in the local community with other visual artists, illustrators, seamstresses, embroiders, models, accessory/apparel designers, etc.
Our program reaffirms individuals interest in the arts and challenges participants to reach their maximum creative potential.
Culture plays a major role in the program as individuals are asked to find design inspiration through studying and understanding different humanities globally, regionally and locally.
In learning the skills needed to successfully screen-print apparel, each apprentice will use the latest technology to create designs, produce apparel and market for various clients/brands.
The youth will also curate their own fashion show. Putting all of their knowledge into action. Connecting theory directly into physical application. This showcase will be featured in our quarterly "Nappy Luv" event.
All activities tie back to the ability of the youth to be able to "create" a concept in their mind, then be able use their skills to physically create that concept through "The Art of Screen Printing."
